The Aquatic Technical Operator (ATO) Skillset (previously known as Pool Plant Operator (PPO)) is a set of skills in aquatic technical operations to monitor and maintain aquatic facility equipment and pool water quality, and coordinate the maintenance of aquatic plant and equipment.
Units of Competency:
- BSBWHS308 Participate in WHS hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control processes
- SISCAQU015 Test pool water quality
- SISCAQU016 Manage pool water quality
- SISCAQU017 Monitor and maintain aquatic facility plant and equipment
- SISFAC009 Coordinate facility maintenance.
To ensure a successful and effective learning experience, please review the following pre-requisites before submitting an application for enrolment in the Aquatic Technical Operator Course. These requirements apply to all students, regardless of funding:
- Minimum Age: 16 years.
- Eligibility: Candidates must be Australian or New Zealand citizens or hold an appropriate visa allowing them to undertake education. Please note: Ampd Academy is not a CRICOS provider and cannot enroll students on an international student visa.
- Technology & Preparation: You’ll need a smart device or computer with internet access to complete online and pre-course activities — including a quick quiz to help us confirm your enrolment and check if any support is needed before training begins.
Funding is available for the Aquatic Technical Operator skill set (SISSS00131) through the Queensland Government’s Higher Level Skills Program.
Am I eligible?
To be eligible for the Higher Level Skills Program a participant must:
- permanently reside in Queensland.
- be an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent resident, temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand Citizen.
- be aged 16 years or over, and no longer at school.
- not hold, and are not currently enrolled in a certificate IV or higher qualification, not including qualifications completed at school.
How much will it cost?
- Concessional Candidate: $300 Total Co-contribution Fee / 5 x $60 per unit Co-contribution Fee
- Non-Concessional Candidate: $350 Total Co-contribution Fee / 5 x $70 per unit Co-contribution Fee
